March 2008 Board Meeting Minutes

Present:  Christina Mentes, Jan Rudestam, Debbie Schiller, David Baldwin, Jordan Witt, Dean Given, Diana Sharpe, Fred Morguelan, Elizabeth Plummer, Lisa Benson
 
CEU
Elizabeth Plummer and Diana Sharpe researched the protocol for SBCPA becoming certified to offer APA/CPA CEU’s.  Jan Rudestam reported that the previous efforts to process the CEU (CPA) of salons had been challenging.  The board agreed that the requirements from APA were expensive and not meeting SBCPA’s needs.  Elizabeth will inquire further with CPA to get more details of how we can streamline future efforts to receive approved Cue’s.
 
Website
David reported that the structural changes are close to being finalized and then it will take approximately 6-8 weeks to implement them.
 
Membership Directory
Joyce Lunt is currently editing the directory.  Ricki Morse will print the final draft and Lisa Benson will handle the mailing of the directory to the members.
 
Oxnard Shooting
The Board considered the recent shooting of a teen in Oxnard.  The board discussed whether it wanted to form a media committee to respond to future crisis incidents.  Diana Sharpe will research media committees on other Psychological Association boards, to help better define it for this board.
 
Board Outing
Dean Given proposed that the board plan a boat outing. Dean will look into the prices to help determine the date and time.
 
Student Committee
Jordan Witt offered to co-chair  the committee.  J. Witt will contact some local Practicum directors to get more information about the needs of students in the community.
 
Appreciation
The board wants to show appreciation to Ricki Morse for her generous time spent  being the webmaster.  David will get more information about what best suits her.
 
Next Meeting will be on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 12:15 pm.  It will be in the Reeves Library (in Cottage Hospital).  Access next to Cancer Center.
